An AVIATION EXTRAVAGANZA featuring: HOT AIR BALLOON LAUNCHES - magnificent, colorful hot air balloons that only the mind could imagine!  Enjoy the balloons as they take to the skies at dawn and in the afternoons.  Afternoon flights are awesome MASS ASCENSIONS.  Morning flights from the field are followed by more balloons flying onto the field from afar featuring TOP RANKED NATIONAL COMPETITORS including our current World Champion, Johnny Petrehn, and National Champion, Nick Donner, flying their balloons to COMPETE IN CHALLENGING TASKS right before your eyes!  We are proud to be selected by the Balloon Federation of America / HACD to host the TEXAS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!  How do balloons "race" and compete when they are one with the wind?  Come and be amazed by their skill! Follow the competition scores daily on  only 1/4" can make a difference in deciding who will be the Winner! "LITE THE NITE" BALLOON GLOW -Saturday evening, just as the sun goes down you will experience the breathtaking sight as the balloons stand inflated to glow like huge colorful globes in the night.  AVIATION EXTRAVAGANZA - During the day be amazed by the Aviation Extravaganza featuring helicopters, a variety of airplanes,  Commemorative Air Force, powered hang gliders & trikes, skydivers, radio controlled aircraft and more in static displays, demonstrations and flyovers!  B25 Bomber, Stearman, airplane and helicopter flights will be available to the public througout the day.  Tethered balloon rides will take place, weather permitting, from 6:30am-8:30am mornings and 6:30pm-8:30pm afternoons. "MidWay to the Skies" Air Show -  Saturday afternoon be sure to join us for exciting in the air dynamics that will have you on the edge of your seat! "Spanky Gallaway" famed announcer of the Red Bull Air Races will not only be announcing our show, but flying as well! Watch solo aerobatics, be awed formation flights, Jan Collmer will astound you as he performs aerobatics in his Extra and be truly amazed by the breathtaking, earth shattering excitement of the Trojan Phlyers, who base at MidWay, in their precision formation aerobatic performances with their T28 Trojans.  This is the only show in the South where you will experience the thrill of the ARC Series Aerobatic Air Racing Challenge as precision teams of two race through the sky performing technical dare defying feats in a timed competition.  Woman against Woman...Julia Wood, current ARC champion faces Kate Kyer.  Man against Man...The Trojan Phlyers race each other in perfectly matched planes. Here's where the skill comes in!  Husband against Wife...Julia against husband Tony Wood in his TurboShark!  Pick your favorite to win and cheer them on to victory!
